We are seeking a dynamic Software Engineering Team Lead to join our innovative Staff Apps Engineering team in Johannesburg, South Africa. As part of this forward-thinking team, you will lead and mentor a group of talented software engineers while ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality software products. The role involves leveraging cutting-edge tools and technologies, working collaboratively in an Agile environment, and driving impactful projects on a global scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and provide technical guidance to a team of 2–5 software engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth
• Take ownership of product/project quality, deadlines, and user requirements
• Demonstrate expertise in
• Net Core and/or PHP, Symfony (or similar), microservices architecture, domain-driven design, hexagonal architecture, and CI/CD practices
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance development workflows
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Owners, Business Analysts, and DevOps, in an Agile and Scrum environment
• Conduct performance reviews, set goals, and provide constructive feedback to team members
• Promote strong working relationships within and across teams to align with project goals

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a senior software engineer or team lead, demonstrating expertise in software development processes and methodologies
• Strong proficiency in Net Core and/or PHP, Symfony (or similar), along with experience in microservices architecture, domain-driven design, and hexagonal architecture
• Familiarity with Git, GitLab, and GitHub for code version control and collaboration
• In-depth understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies, with a successful track record of leading Agile development teams
• Excellent leadership, communication, and mentoring skills
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to technical challenges
• Ability to effectively collaborate with DevOps, Test Analysts, Product Owners, Business Analysts, and other stakeholders
• A commitment to quality, project success, and client satisfaction
